Welcome To Port Talbot Little Theatre
The Society ranges in age from early 20s to over 60.
We all have a wide range of backgrounds but what unites us is our love of live theatre and the challenge of putting on two productions a year. Those challenges mean we have to work as a team and this results in a close knit “family” atmosphere.
We meet on Fridays at 7.30pm in the hall at Wesley Chapel, Taibach, Port Talbot. We also meet on Tuesdays when rehearsing for a production. The Society also has a very long standing unofficial association with Aberavon RFC’s Social Club and members can normally be found at the Manor Street Clubhouse after rehearsals on a Friday. Additionally, there is an annual Dinner & Dance, usually held in January. We also visit, from time to time, other local societies’ productions as well as the professional theatre.
We love to welcome new members and, as an amateur society, it isn’t a requirement to have had any previous acting experience. However, in addition to those who would like to “have a go” at acting, we are also delighted if you can do any of the following:
· sell programmes/tickets
· Build sets
· show the audience to their seats
· deal with costumes
· help with stage props
· paint and wallpaper
· just help with general DIY
Even if you can’t do any of the above, but would still like to be part of the team putting on live theatre, do join us on a Friday. No notice is required; just turn up at the hall after 7.30pm. We usually finish at around 9.15 – 9.30pm.
Membership costs £25 a year, which can be paid in two instalments. We regret that for insurance reasons we don’t have a youth section and can’t take members under 18.
If you regularly attend our productions, why not consider becoming a patron? We rely heavily on the support of our patrons, As a Patron you will be entitled to two seats for each of our productions and your valuable support is acknowledged in our programme.
Patronage costs £30 per year. Single patronage (one seat) is also available for £16 per year.
To become a patron, please contact the ticket secretary on 01639 822389.
